Job Title: Polysomnographer Profession: Polysomnography Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6 PM - 6 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Polysomnographic Tech. Experience in pediatric sleep preferred. License: New Mexico State License Required Certifications: Must hold a registry in good standing with any of the following credentialing organizations: - The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) - The American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) - The National Board of Respiratory Care (SDS) Must-Have: BLS Certification Description: Performs sleep disorder studies accurately and safely as ordered by physicians. Operates all equipment utilized for sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment. May calibrate equipment required for testing and make adjustments. Determines testing parameters and procedures with the aid of a physician. Scores sleep/wake stages. Completes and verifies records of all procedures performed. Oversees unusual and difficult procedures. Complies with the BRPT standards. May provide oversight to the Polysomnographic (Sleep) Technician. Responsibilities: Assesses patient testing modalities and treatment protocols and consults with referring physician, Medical Director, or Clinical Director as needed to produce optimal polysomnographic procedures. Evaluates sleep study related equipment and inventory. Performs routine and complex equipment care, maintenance, and repairs. Scores sleep/wake stages and clinical events by applying professionally accepted guidelines and specific protocols, generating accurate reports. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned responsibilities in a manner that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of the members served. Appropriately adapts assigned assessment, treatment, and/or service methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each member served. Demonstrates adherence to core values. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Education/Skills: 4 year BA/BS in health care degree from an accredited institution preferred. Ability to concentrate and make quick judgments with a high level of skill, knowledge, understanding, and accuracy. Ability to work without close supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
