Federal is seeking TARS experienced Field Service Representatives
to support the DHS Customs & Border Protection Tethered Aerostat
Radar System (TARS) program. The TARS program leverages aerostat
systems to provide persistent surveillance, detection capabilities,
to our U.S. Government customer. We have several opportunities
providing Operations and Sustainment (O) support for TARS along the
US Southern border in multiple locations including Puerto Rico,
Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. The ideal candidate will
have TARS, TASS, or PSS-T program related experience as a current
site support person, or prior program support. Individuals should
have experience and expertise in one of the following areas and
associated job requirement areas: TARS Aerostat Field Engineer: +
Perform a wide range of technical tasks to include using standard
mechanical and electrical hand tools, mechanical
disassembly/assembly, wiring, soldering, fiber optic splicing,
operating standard and unique test equipment, repairing aerostat
fabric and handling high-pressure gases such as Helium and
Nitrogen. + Maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical
structures, aerostat structures, hydraulic systems, fiber optic
components, avionics and electrical components. + Maintain,
troubleshoot and repair ground systems such as generators, mooring
platforms, communication and weather systems. + Flight Crew Member
(pre/post flight, launch/recovery, helium toppings, snubbing,
inflations/ deflations, tether inspections, proficiency in all
emergency procedures for both moored and airborne flight aerostat
operations). + Read and understand schematics, technical drawings
and engineering data and reports + Maintain and understand site
documentation such as parts request forms, equipment condition
tags, timecards, and flight data and maintenance logs. + Calibrate
all site and test equipment as required. + Operate general purpose
and special purpose vehicles to include man lift operations to
heights of 150 feet as well as specialized vehicles for tether
handling. + Execute test steps and collect results. TARS RADAR
Field Engineer: + Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge to
solve complex problems with Radar and electronic equipment. +
Maintains a thorough understanding of digital design as relates to
radar signal generators, MTI, IF receivers, clutter rejection,
mixers, multipliers, low noise amplifiers, and digital displays. +
Generates and performs troubleshooting activities for TARS Radar
and electronic subsystems to include using complex electronic test
equipment. + Directs and performs corrective and preventive
maintenance on TARS Radar and electronic subsystems + Generate and
perform Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), Site Acceptance
Procedures (SATS), Field Directives, and Field Modification
Procedures (FMPs) + Assists conducting Root Cause analyses for TARS
system issues and events. + Perform site installations and
government acceptance testing of the L88 radar systems. + Assist
technicians at remote location with troubleshooting L88 radar
systems in isolating failures. + Trains and certifies other
personnel in selected aerostat electronic subsystem procedures. +
Provide depot level support and technical assistance to electronic
technicians at remote site locations. + Troubleshoot various
systems including Radar, RF, Telemetry, Communication and GPS
systems + Identify obsolescent components and work with the design
team in finding alternate solutions. + Provide failure analysis and
recommend design changes to reduce risk and help maintain program.
+ Ability to travel to multiple sites across the Southern Border +
6+ years' industry experience in one of the following: + Electrical
Maintenance with qualification at the 10 and 20 series or greater
level from Army MOS or other military branch equivalent or industry
occupational specialties. + IT with qualifications at the 10 or 20
series or greater level from Army MOS or other military branch
equivalent or industry occupational specialties as a Network
Installation or CISCO Network Administrator. + Mechanical
Maintenance with qualifications at the 10 or 20 series or greater
level from Army MOS or other military branch equivalent or industry
occupational specialties as a National Institute for ASE Certified
Truck Mechanic or FAA General Mechanic 1 or greater. + Ability to
pass Aerostat Basic Training Course + Bachelor Degree in a related
field. Additional Years' experience can substitute in place of a
formal degree + Successfully completed Background Investigation
with a Favorable Suitability Determination, and issuance of DHS
Suitability determination.? + Valid U.S. Driver's license required.
+ Proof of U.S. residency required. + Ability to carry up to 50
lbs. + Ability to climb ladders. + The status of applicable
COVID-19 vaccination requirements under Executive Order 14042 are
subject to change depending on applicable court orders and the
course of ongoing litigation. Candidates may be required to show
proof of COVID-19 vaccination or have an approved exemption+ Prior
Aerostat Operator experience of any size Aerostat is preferred. +
