This position may be assigned to Jacobs Technology or a teammate company. Candidate will provide instrumentation and controls related support to propulsion test projects conducted in the 300 and/or 400 area. Duties will include instrumentation and control system design, build up, checkout, validation, actively support propulsion test operations and perform post-test data analysis. Other duties include preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repair of systems and equipment.Heres What Youll Need:BS degree from an ABET accredited electrical engineering program and 3 to 5 years related experience, or an ABET accredited aerospace engineering program with strong emphasis in electrical/electronic systems and 3 to 5 years related electrical engineering experience, or MS degree from an ABET accredited electrical engineering program accompanied by an undergraduate degree in a related engineering field and at least 2 to 3 years of related electrical engineering experience. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position. Experience in 2 or more of the following is required: design, calibration, and application of instrumentation; data systems and data acquisition systems; data analysis and uncertainty analysis; design of hardwire and computerized control systems to include development of associated control system software; experience configuring, programming, and using OPTO-22 or other PLC type GUI controls systems.Essential Functions:UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 30 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency. May be required to wear breathing protection (respirator), hearing protection, eye protection and other assoicated personal protective equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT Desk/office and test area work. Test area work involves standing and directing technical personnel. Also involves working with and around components that have been exposed to hypergolic propellants. Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. Position requires individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS Computer work required. Exempt employees will not operate equipment and machines involved in the performance of testing; union personnel perform these direct functions. However, exempt salaried personnel in this job will work around pressurized fluid systems (nitrogen, helium air, water) and systems containing hypergolic propellant and components. Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Project is required. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is required. Operation of a government motor vehicle may be required. CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Occasional overtime may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs. Normal working hours are nine (9) hour per day with some flexibility based on pre-approval. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternate Fridays off, is typically in use for each two week pay cycle (9-80 schedule). OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Knowledge and experience using Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel and MS Project are required. Priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must possess a valid state driverss license. Must past a Federal background investigation.
