Job Description This is a NASA Test Evaluation and Support Team Contract (TEST2) position and will be assigned to Jacobs or a teammate company. 1. Apply technical knowledge to solve problems that typically can be resolved solely by interpreting manufacturer's manuals or similar documents in working with equipment. 2. Develop a working knowledge of the functions and operations of the operational equipment, systems, and controls at WSTF and the surrounding facilities supported by NASA. 3. Install, adjust, maintain troubleshoot all electrical items/systems including, but not limited to, control systems, fire alarm systems, power generation and distribution, UPS systems, switch yards, and substations with voltages ranging from 24Volts-AC/DC to 25 KV systems. 4. Ability to work from electrical schematics and trace circuitry when schematics are not available. 5. Possess understanding of NFPA National Electrical Codes and OSHA requirements. 6. Must perform other duties as required or assigned by management. 7. Must be able to follow verbal or written instructions. 8. Must work well as an individual or as a member of a team. 9. Must demonstrate a commitment to safety in the workplace including proper use of PPE and compliance with all safety policies and instructions. 10. Must be able to meet and maintain certification requirements for fall protection, forklift operations, man lift operations and confined space entry, first aid and CPR. 11. Must perform quality work in a timely manner and maintain work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. 12. Participate, as required, in all safety meetings, committees, and events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION Position involves extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 30 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency. May be required to wear breathing protection (respirator), hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT Position requires individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. Uneven surfaces exist in office and shop areas and must be traversed. Must be able to function as a member of a team in a face paced environment. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS Computer work required. Use of standard office equipment, electrical equipment, and common hand tools is required. CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Overtime may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs. Normal working hours are nine (9) hour per day with some flexibility based on pre-approval. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternate Fridays off, is typically in use for each two week pay cycle (9-80 schedule). OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be able to pass a physical examination (including drug testing) as determined by the NASA White Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. If applicable to the specific job assignment, must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems. Occasional travel may be required.Qualifications 1. Must have a high school diploma or GED. 2. Must have five (5) years of applicable electrical experience or related electrical civilian or military trade school training or equivalent. 3. Must possess and be able to maintain a current NMAC CID Journeyman Electrician Electrical license EE98-J or the equivalent from another state. 4. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license (state) and may be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License for a specific task. Operation of government owned vehicles and mobile equipment is required. 5. Meet requirements for certification, if applicable, as specified in the White Sands Training Database. 6. Must pass a physical examination as determined by the WSTF physical examination requirements for the job classification. 7. Subject to working rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis as part of normal shift scheduling. 8. Must have the physical ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms. 9. Must have the physical ability to regularly lift 40lbs. 10. Must have the ability to work in confined spaces. 11. Must have experience in the use of Electrician hand tools, power tools and electrical testing equipment.
