Your Impact: Thisis a Test Evaluation and Support Team contract position (TEST2) at the NASA White Sands Test Facility. Must be able to apply a working technical knowledge to perform simpleor routine component and system repair tasks following detailed instructions. Must be able to disassemble, repair, reassemble mechanical items;perform leak checks and perform hydrostatic proof testing of components, hardlines and welded assemblies to facilitate cleaning and repair. Must be able to operate laboratory, field andtest equipment as needed for repair of components and test systems. Must be able to become qualified if requiredon the handling, disassembly, reassembly and test of flight rated componentsand systems. Must be able to make simpledata entries in a computer scheduling system and print files. Must be able to identify replacement partsfor components through manufacturers schematics, service manuals and othertechnical manuals. Must be able to applyknowledge of safety regulations and procedures as pertains to high-pressuregases and hazardous materials. Asan employee of the White Sands Test Facility, must be willing and able to takean active role in safety, and where appropriate, in the development of safeplans of action for work being performed. Performs work and maintains work area in aneat, orderly, and safe manner. Performs related duties as required. Here's What You'll Need:Must have two (2) years experience or equivalent related civilian or military trade school training. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license (state). Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) and Jacobs Engineering. Within one (1) year, must be able to meet the requirements for certification/qualification, if applicable, as specified in the System for Administration, Training, and Educational Resources for NASA (SATERN).ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITIONPosition involves extended periods of sitting. Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 10 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENTDesk/office work and test area work. As necessary, must be able to travel to other work areas and be aware of safety requirements for those areas. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKSComputer work required. Use of printer/copiers, calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is required.CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCERegular attendance when scheduled and punctuality is required. Occasional overtime may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs.OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSKnowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel is necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. If applicable to the specific job assignment, must possess and maintain a valid drivers license. Must be a Citizen. Must pass a Federal background investigation.
