Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) in areas related
to the day-to-day management of research compliance and sponsored
projects operations as they relate to institutionally supported and
extramurally funded sponsored projects or programs. - The
Specialist supports the Assistant Dean in the following
administrative areas: 1) Pre- and Post-Award Sponsored Projects
Administration; 2) Human Subjects Research Compliance; 3) Biosafety
Compliance, and 4) ORSP Office administrative support, including
regulatory and institutional compliance oversight of projects and
programs administered through ORSP. - Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:Sponsored Projects Administration
Assist faculty, staff, and students
in identifying grant opportunities.Serve as the liaison between the
Assistant Dean and Principal Investigator/ Project Director
(P.I./P.D.) on sponsored project submissions. - - Essential duties
include but are not limited to: Facilitate development, preparation
and submission of the proposal documentsAssist with budget
developmentConduct pre-submission compliance reviews to ensure that
applications meet sponsor and College requirementsCoordinate
routing of proposals for institutional review and
approvalsCoordinate and assist with electronic submission of
proposals in accordance with sponsor requirementsServe as an
institutional liaison to the sponsor for non-technical process
related matters. - - - Monitor and track sponsored project
expenditures to ensure that the funds are being utilized as
approved by the sponsor.Assist the P.I./P.D. with preparation of
budget revisions for review and approval by the Assistant Dean and
sponsor. - - Coordinate and process Time & Effort Reporting for
sponsored projectsCoordinate periodic compliance reviews of
approved sponsored projects.Coordinate with the P.I./P.D. to ensure
that progress reports to sponsor are submitted in accordance with
sponsor requirements.Work with the Assistant Dean to ensure
regulatory and institutional policy compliance as it relates to
sponsored research activities and institutionally supported
projects.Coordinate with sponsors and P.I./P.D. regarding required
changes to the award termsProvide monthly and annual reports of
sponsored project activities for the Assistant Dean. - Human
Subjects Research Compliance
The Specialist will serve as the
Burrell Institutional Review Board (IRB) Coordinator. - Schedule
IRB meetings in consultation with the IRB chair, prepare meeting
agendas, and record, prepare and file minutes of the IRB meetings.
Serve as the liaison and a resource for the Burrell research
community on matters involving human subjects' research.Manage the
tracking of IRB protocols, amendments and correspondence between
the Principal Investigator and IRB. - - Conduct pre-review of IRB
protocols submitted for completeness and make exempt determinations
as appropriate. - - Assemble and prepare non-exempt protocols for
review by the IRB. - - Support the IRB Chair and IRB in disposition
of its duties which include but are not limited to:New
submissionsAnnual continuing reviewsCorrespondence with
investigatorsRecordkeeping.Assist the Assistant Dean for Research
in maintaining IRB registrations with the NIH Office of Human
Research Protection, ClinicalTrials.Gov, and related registrations
as appropriate. - Coordinate development of new and periodic review
of existing IRB policies and procedures.Coordinate and track IRB
member training requirements. - Work with Assistant Dean and IRB
chair to ensure that IRB members are informed of any changes in
regulatory compliance that are applicable to the Human Subjects
Research. - Coordinate and support the IRB in protocol audits as
needed.Biosafety Compliance
Provide administrative support for
the Burrell College Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). Duties
include pre-reviewing submitted IBC protocols for completeness;
assisting the IBC chair with development of the meeting agenda;
gather, assemble, and distribute materials for scheduled meetings;
coordinate essential follow up activities between meetings; track
all approved projects; and work with the IBC Chair and Assistant
Dean regarding all internal and federal reporting
requirements.Support the Assistant Dean in regulatory compliance
oversight and maintenance of required committee registrations.ORSP
Administrative Office Support
Provide administrative support for
the Burrell Research Advisory Council. - Support the Assistant Dean
in development of new and maintenance of existing institutional
policies and procedures that are required for ORSP institutional
and regulatory compliance.Prepare monthly ORSP activity reports for
the Assistant Dean. Support the Assistant Dean in monitoring
compliance with training requirements; coordinate regular webinars
and in-person continuing education for ORSP stakeholders. Conduct
periodic review of ORSP website and coordinate research website
updates .Collaborate with the Assistant Dean in development,
preparation, and submission of the ORSP budget. - - Coordinate
monthly review of expenditures and prepare monthly reports
including projected expenditures for the Assistant Dean and ORSP
staff; coordinate end of year ORSP budget closeout.Perform other
duties as assigned. -Other skills important to this position:

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills;
a strong team playerExtensive experience with Microsoft Office and
Adobe Acrobat products - Excellent writing and copy-editing
skillsExperience with taking meeting minutesExperience working in a
complex office environmentMinimum Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree: a minimum of eight
years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degreeAt
least three years of relevant experience Preferences: Although not
essential, preferences may be given to applicants who have the
following skills or attributes:
Familiarity with Human Subjects
Research RegulationsFamiliarity with MS Teams and
SharepointFamiliarity with CITI Training Program administrationThis
position is typically conducted in a classroom or office
environment, Monday through Friday with the occasional weekend or
evening requirement (some travel may be required). - Extensive
knowledge of integrating technology in a learning and work
environment is required. - Note: Applicants must currently be
